The US presidential election is fast approaching. November 3 goes to the Americans who have not already voted for the ballot box.
In the White House sits a president who, despite corona disease, sets up interviews, invites hundreds of people to see him speak, and not least – tweets. All in the hope of having four new years.
Now more Republicans are also avoiding the question of whether or not they support the president. In addition, several of Trump’s own are critical of the president’s handling of the corona pandemic.

The online magazine Politico lists a number of names that have recently avoided answering whether they support Trump.
One of them is Texas Senator Ted Cruz. On Friday, he stated in an interview with CNBC’s “Squawk Box” that he is “worried” about the election.
According to the magazine, he warned that the election could “be a bloodbath of Watergate proportions” for his party. The 1972 Watergate scandal ended with the resignation of President Richard Nixon. In the interview, Cruz also expressed concern about the election, regardless of how voters viewed the pandemic and the country’s economy on election day.

Another name on the list is Senate Republican Majority Leader Mitch McConnell. According to the magazine, McConnell told reporters on Thursday that he has not been in the White House for more than two months because he does not trust Trump and his administration follow the infection control rules well enough.

– My impression is that their approach to this was different from mine, and what I insisted that we do in the Senate. It was wearing a bandage, and practicing social distancing, McConnell said according to Politico.
Avoided Trump questions
Cruz and McConnell are not alone either. Senator Martha McSally, however, chose to avoid the question.
McSally, a Arizona senator, declined to comment on whether she is proud to be Trump’s supporter in a debate with her opponent Mark Kelly.
Trump’s handling of the corona pandemic also leaves his own in doubt.
Texas Senator and Republican John Cornyn has recently stated that Trump no longer practices “self-discipline” to fight the coronavirus.
The magazine also quotes Cornyn as saying that Trump in his attempt to signal prematurely that the pandemic is on its way back creates “confusion” for the citizens.
Massachusetts Gov. Charlie Baker is also unhappy with Trump’s views on Covid-19. He believes Trump has been “extremely irresponsible” through the pandemic as he has ignored the experts’ advice, according to the magazine.

Boasts of its own handling
Trump and his administration, for their part, have praised the way they have handled the corona pandemic.
Although several Republicans now avoid answering whether they support Trump, there are more who openly support him. One of them is his own vice president Mike Pence.
He emphasized that Trump’s decision to suspend all entry from China gave the United States a huge head start in coordinating the response to the handling, and that this saved hundreds of thousands of lives, according to NTB.
Opponent Harris said it did not work, citing more than 200,000 Americans who have died from the virus.

Despite the fact that both the president and First Lady Melania Trump have been diagnosed with the coronavirus, Trump has also stated that he is in good shape, and in fact “better than he did 20 years ago”.
The president was hospitalized with corona infection for three days. The President of the United States spoke from the balcony of the presidential residence.
– I feel fantastic, how are you? said the President to those present, who repeatedly shouted cheers against him.
