Al-Ahly is playing a strong match today, Sunday, against Pyramids at Cairo International Stadium, as part of the 33rd and penultimate round of the Egyptian We League matches.
Al-Ahly enters the match, top of the competition ranking and crowned its champion with 85 points, 20 points behind Zamalek – before deducting three points from his balance by a decision of the Egyptian Football Association -.
As for Pyramids, it is ranked third in the Egyptian League, with 63 points, and aspires to advance to the runners-up in the competition that is nearing the end.
Zamalek will await the Al-Ahly match with Pyramids and its result before their confrontation with Haras al-Hodood tomorrow, Monday, to know his fate in the standings before playing the last round match.
Although Al-Ahly was officially crowned the Egyptian League title, the importance of the match lies in the fact that it is very crucial for those who represent Egypt in the next season of the African Champions League in addition to the Red Castle.
Al-Ahly’s victory over Pyramids will give Zamalek a greater chance to be in second place in the league before their confrontation with the border, even after deducting points once the tournament ends.
As for the end of today’s match with a draw, it will make the competition between Pyramids and Zamalek postponed until the last round, due to the small points difference between them.
Pyramids’ victory over Al-Ahly in the meeting will place him as a runner-up for the competition, with a rate that greatly exceeds Zamalek’s chances of reaching this position, noting that he confronts the Arab Contractors in the final round.
Pyramids will enter the meeting with an almost complete list that only Ahmed El Shennawi is missing from, in the presence of Abdullah Al-Saeed and John Antwi.
As for Al-Ahly, it announced its list, which witnesses the absence of Marwan Mohsen, the striker of the team, as well as Muhammad Al-Shennawi, the injured goalkeeper, with reliance on some of the young elements as usual in past meetings.
The last match between the two teams witnessed Al-Ahly’s victory over Pyramids by two goals to one in the deadly time, after Aliou Diang scored the superior goal in the last minute.
As for my confrontations last season, Pyramids beat two goals to one in the first round, and a clean goal in the second leg, before the team beat itself with a clean goal in the 16th round of the last edition of the Egypt Cup.
