At about 5:00 p.m. on Monday, August 24, the fire that started in the vicinity of Lo Campano and that has affected a hectare and a half of land was considered extinguished, according to 112 sources.
Members of the Infomur Plan, to fight forest fires in the Region of Murcia, intervened together with Firefighters from the Cartagena City Council, Civil Protection and Local Police, in extinguishing the fire in the vicinity of the Lo Campano neighborhood, in the neighborhood of Santa Lucía de Cartagena, whose causes of origin are unknown.
The 112 has received, from 12:52 hours, more than 35 calls informing of the event.
The fire originated in an area near the Nuestra Señora de los Remedios cemetery, between the cemetery and the old military naval prison, and has spread up the valley between the Calvario and San Julián mountains.
4 vehicles and 10 firefighters and personnel from the Fire Extinction Service of the Cartagena City Council, as well as Civil Protection and Local Police, along with environmental agents, three helicopters from the General Directorate of Citizen Security and Emergencies with extinction technician and their respective helitransported forestry brigades, plus a helicopter for the coordination of air resources.
112 sources reported that around 5:00 p.m. the fire was fully controlled.
