Maurizio Sarri fired Juventus only one season after being appointed. Former top Italian coach Arrigo Sacchi thinks Sarri was wrong from the start.
Sarri was appointed by Juventus to replace Massimiliano Allegri at the end of 2018/19. Carrying Sarriball, Bianconeri appeared less biting despite successfully defending the Scudetto for the ninth time in a row.
Cristiano Ronaldo cs finished Serie A last season with 83 points, the lowest number of points Juventus since 2012. In addition, Juventus have stepped back after only finishing in the last 16 then beaten by Lazio in the Coppa Italia final.
One of the reasons behind Sarri’s dismissal was that Juventus players didn’t like his tactics. For Sacchi, Sarri seemed to have committed suicide by accepting an offer to groom La Vecchia Signora.
“I told him directly that this was suicide, because there was no way players like that would fit his style of football,” Sacchi was quoted as saying Football-Italia.
“He was also lacking a streak with pneumonia during pre-season, which further limited his ability to really hone his tactics during those weeks of training,” concluded the winner of two Champions League winners medals with AC Milan.
After Sarri’s dismissal, Juventus then recruited former player Andrea Pirlo. Together with Pirlo, Juventus won and drew one in its first two matches in the Italian League.
Juventus is now ranked eighth in the standings with four points, five points adrift of Atalanta at the top. After the international break, Juventus will face Crotone on 17 October.
