On October 23 of this year, the performance “Against the Tragic Wall” by artists Artūrs Virtmanis and Daniela Vētra will take place in the big hall of the Riga Art Space, which will result in an exhibition with newly created art objects.

According to the organizers from the Riga Art Space, it will be possible to watch the performance in person for a limited number of spectators, when purchasing tickets in advance, while the exhibition will be open only for a short period of time – from October 29 to December 6.

“The performance of both world-renowned and acclaimed artists will signal the seemingly opposite impulses that create cycles of creation and destruction both on the individual’s deeply personal, existential level and in external interactions with society as a whole. Inspired by Martin Luther King’s legendary centenary In 1963, the central motif of this performance and exhibition will be its quote “I have a dream”, which will transform from a visually impressive, dynamic performance process into a graphic, entropy installation, which will later be seen in the exhibition with documentation of this performance. and farce – worthy elements with a good dose of irony, as well as unpredictable and physically demanding repetitive action, in which gender roles will change and the object of the action will become a mirror of society, “writes the organizers of the event.

The performance will be created by an installation artist Artūrs Virtmanis, Daniela Vētra, musician Linards Kalnins, as well DJ Monsta and Oliver Veldre, a student of the Riga Dome Choir School. Performance and exhibition curator: Luīze Lismane.

Daniela Vētra is an artist who deals with performance art, “live art”, installation art, is the author and actress of contemporary circus performances. Currently lives and works in Riga, Latvia.

Artūrs Virtmanis is an installation artist who, after studying in the Sculpture sub-branch of the Latvian Academy of Arts, has moved to New York, working in the fields of visual art, scenography and design. He has authored and co-authored numerous exhibitions, Broadway musicals, productions for European operas and theaters, as well as several important projects such as the opening ceremony of the Sochi Olympics, the MTV Award in New York, the Cirque de Solei in Dubai and elsewhere. In his work, he often focuses on the multi-layered representation of the time dimension, developing it into a three-dimensional monochrome installation.

Tickets for the performance can be purchased in the exhibition hall “Riga Art Space”, as well as “Ticket Paradises” at the box office.
