Orlando, Oct. 10, LETA – DPA. National Basketball Association (NBA) Miami Heat player Jimmy Butler made a “triple double” in the final game of the final series on Friday, as a result of which the champion will not be determined sooner than the sixth game.
The Heat defeated the Los Angeles Lakers 111: 108 (25:24, 35:32, 28:26, 23:26) to 2-3 in a series of four victories.
In the last two minutes of the fifth match of the final series, there was a change of control six times. Butler’s two-point throw was 103: 101, but Lebron James responded with a basket and then entered the penalty line. The duel between the two players continued at the last minute when Butler threw the basket over Anthony Davis, but James was short after the second half.
At the very end, Butler threw two “penalties”, but all hopes of victory were dashed by Tyler’s Hero free throws. With less than two seconds left in the game, the Lakers delivered the ball to James, whose long shot was unsuccessful.
Butler ended the duel with 35 points, 12 rebounds, 11 assists and five intercepted balls, 26 points at the expense of Duncan Robinson, while Kendrik Nans stood out with 14 points.
In the Lakers, James scored 40 points, 13 balls under the baskets and scored seven times, Davis 28 points and 12 rebounds, while Kentavios Caldwell-Poups added 16 points.
“That’s the most beautiful part of the game – the opportunity to compete at the highest level,” James said after the failure. “We both (including Butler) are trying to play like this to lead the team to victory. He was able to do more than I did tonight.”
The Lakers last won the title ten years ago. “We will definitely recover,” head coach Frank Vogel said after the fifth final game. “This is a heavy loss, no doubt about it.”
But Butler said his team had no plans to resign.
Both teams will play their sixth game on Monday.
The Lakers are a seventeen-time NBA champion, winning many of their titles in the 1950s and 1980s, as well as in the first decade of this century. The last time the Los Angeles team became the champion was in 2010, when it was represented by Kobe Brian, who tragically passed away this year.
Meanwhile, “Heat” was crowned champion in 2006, 2012, and 2013, winning the last two titles with Lebron as a member of James. It last played in the NBA Finals in 2014, when it recognized San Antonio’s “Spurs” superiority in a series of 1-4.
The final phase of the NBA season took place at Disney’s ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex in Orlando. First, the teams played sowing games, but then started the “play-off”.
