Conflict over Nagorno-Karabakh

Nagorno-Karabakh is an Armenian-controlled and inhabited enclave in the territory of Azerbaijan. On September 27, the conflict over the region resumed – Azerbaijan began shelling Armenian settlements, claiming that there had been a provocation by the Armenians living in Nagorno-Karabakh earlier.

In the fighting, which also took place on Friday, both sides suffered casualties, and were also killed and wounded among the civilian population. However, each side of the conflict claims to have “eliminated thousands of enemy soldiers.” According to experts, it is difficult to determine the exact balance of victims of the conflict due to disinformation activities on both sides and the lack of independent observers and journalists in the region. The armed conflict over Nagorno-Karabakh broke out in 1988 and has so far claimed approximately 30,000 people. fatalities.
