127 new corona infections have been diagnosed in the province of Groningen since Thursday. This is evident from the figures from the National Institute for Public Health and the Environment (RIVM) Friday afternoon.
Of the established infections, 80 come from the municipality of Groningen. In the rest of the province, in the municipalities Het Hogeland (9), Het Westerkwartier (8), Midden-Groningen (7), Stadskanaal (6), 4 in Oldambt, Veendam and Westerwolde, Loppersum (2) and in Appingedam, Delfzijl and Pekela each detected one infection.

Nationally, 5,983 new corona cases were reported between Thursday morning and Friday morning. The number of deaths increased by fourteen. That’s not to say that all of these people died in the past 24 hours. Such information is sometimes passed on with some delay.
The number of corona patients in Dutch hospitals rose by 69 patients on Friday to 1139, according to the National Coordination Center for Patient Distribution (LCPS). The majority are in nursing wards. 239 of the people with Covid-19 lung disease are in intensive care, an increase of 11 in the past 24 hours.
Currently, 30 percent of all patients on ICs are corona patients. “The number of covid patients in hospitals continues to rise rapidly. The prognosis is that 1,250 patients were admitted on October 13, ”reports LCPS.
In the past 24 hours there have been 11 transfers between regions, 4 of which are IC patients. On Thursday, that was still 15 trips. These relocations are made to prevent the pressure on hospitals in areas where a relatively large number of people fall ill from becoming too great.
The actual number of infections is higher, because not all infected people have been tested. The actual number of deaths is also higher, as people who have not been tested for the disease also die from Covid-19.
The figures of the RIVM and GGDs may differ from each other. This is due to a delay in processing. The corona dashboard reports 127 new corona infections and the GGD Groningen 129 infections on Friday afternoon.
