Virologists from the Rega Institute in Leuven are on the trail of a promising drug against the corona virus. Tests on hamsters showed that high doses of favipiravir, a flu medicine used in Japan, virtually destroyed the virus. “It may even work preventively to prevent contamination,” says Professor Johan Neyts (KU Leuven).
