Tightened Huawei Sanctions, Samsung Immediately Profit Big

Jakarta

Income Samsung during Q3 2020 which ended last September it was 12.1 trillion won, higher than the forecast of only 10 trillion won.

Samsung’s sales during the quarter totaled 66 trillion Won, but so far it has not been disclosed what their net income is or the income from each division of the South Korean company.

This Samsung achievement occurred after the previous quarter Samsung’s position as the world’s largest cellphone manufacturer was seized by Huawei. But Samsung is expected to reclaim that position after sanctions on Huawei are tightened again.

Recently, Huawei has indeed been made unable to get supplies of components for its products, especially cellphones. While Samsung could instead increase its market share in India, a market where sentiment towards products from China is also deteriorating.

Not only that, memory business Samsung also benefited after Huawei stocked its semiconductor components before sanctions from the United States government began to run.

“Huawei has already stocked up on components for six months before US sanctions become active on September 15,” said MS Hwang, an analyst at Samsung Securities.

“This purchase from Huawei patches up the lack of demand for servers,” he added, as quoted by detikINET from Bloomberg, Friday (9/10/2020).

Q3 2020 is arguably an easy quarter for Samsung, because Apple postponed the arrival of its new iPhone, as well as Huawei, which continues to come under pressure from the US government.
