Tesla electric cars have a successful design, they are undoubtedly packed with state-of-the-art technology, but it is no longer so famous with its construction solution. This is evidenced by other cases of shocked owners of some American cars. Very dangerous cases….
“We heard the wind blowing, at first I thought the window opened, but after half a minute the whole glass roof flew in the wind,” Nathaniel Galicia Chien described the experience with the brand new Tesla Model Y crossover for The Verge magazine.
He got into a very awkward situation on the California highway just hours after picking up a new car with his parents at an authorized Tesla dealer. Chien also describes other production imperfections that he noticed on the car – non-fitting parts, uneven gaps. After all, Tesla is relatively well known for this. But that a poorly attached huge panoramic roof will be separated? At least the flying piece of glass didn’t hurt anyone…

Hey @elonmusk why didn’t you tell us that Tesla sells convertibles now? Because the roof of our brand new model Y fell off on the highway pic.twitter.com/s8YNnu7m9L

The family informed the police about the incident and returned to the dealership with an unwanted “convertible”. Explanation? It is said that the seal was defective, or that someone had somehow forgotten to attach the roof correctly. The seller offered the family free service and in the meantime also a spare vehicle, but she refused the offer and according to Nathaniel, the parents will rather look for a completely different car…
Neither the dealership nor Tesla itself commented on the incident. The Verge magazine recalls that with the advent of the Y models last year, Tesla’s design problems have deepened. In the traditional JD Power study, the brand received the worst score this year for the quality of workmanship. Car owners also complained about problems with paint, upholstery, seats and seat belts.
Tesla’s boss, billionaire Elon Musk himself, admitted that building a functioning factory is a hundred times more difficult than designing and constructing the car itself. According to him, one thing is the development of prototypes and modern technologies and a completely different thing is the successful transition to serial production.
However, some problems cannot be compared at all with a larger gap in the body or poor-quality paint at all. This is evidenced by another recent case published by the Swiss owner of the Model S 90D. While driving on the motorway from Stuttgart, Germany, to Zurich, the front suspension of the wheels broke. At a speed of 200 km / h!
Apparently it was a pin on the front arm. Brake fluid leaked from the car, the steering locked, but fortunately the shocked driver still had to stop safely with it.
The electric car had driven 80,000 kilometers and was no longer under warranty, so Tesla refused to pay for the repair. She even said it was “normal wear and tear.” The owner gave less than 200 thousand crowns for the service.

The owner of Tesla Model 3 from Britain shared another crazy experience in the spring. His electric car was driving for a month, he had driven barely 500 kilometers, when the steering wheel fell on him in the backyard … Tesla allegedly picked up the car and brought it repaired the next day. The steering wheel was not fastened with a screw at all …
