Sony has in a new video released on the official PlayStation Blog given us a complete overview of how PS5the hardware looks inside.
In the detailed disassembly shown below, we get to see the internal components of the PS5, including the system fan, optical drive and motherboard. We do not recommend disassembling your console yourself, of course, no matter how simple Yasuhiro Ootori, who works in the hardware design department at Sony, makes it look.
The video also gives us a very good idea of exactly how big the PS5 console will be. When you see Ootori sitting on a chair next to the PS5 on a table, the console protrudes well over his shoulders. Even though we do not know exactly how tall Yasuhiro is, or how tall the chair and table are, it is still clear that we are dealing with a giant console (which is also one of the heaviest of all time.)
We are also served what is probably the very first published look on the back of the PS5 in this disassembly video. Unfortunately, there are no surprises to be found on the back. Here you will find two USB-A ports, an HDMI (out) port, an Ethernet port (LAN) and a power input. All the usual, in other words.
The video also shows how to remove the stand if you are going to place the PS5 in a vertical position, and how to attach it if you are going to place the console horizontally. It all seems relatively simple, but it seems that one should keep order in the screws.
A space for an internal SSD (NVMe) also appears as soon as you have removed the PS5’s white plastic chassis, which may suggest that you can add extra storage beyond what you find in the internal disk you get – with in other words, that one does not need to replace the SSD.

Sony has also claimed that the PS5 will be significantly less noisy than the PS4, and has said that they can hardly wait for PlayStation fans to hear the lack of noise. Specifically, the claim is that one should not be able to hear the console fans at all.
It has taken Sony five years to design and develop the PS5, and since November 19 is fast approaching, it will not be long before we get to experience the company’s hard work live. However, whether you have managed (or will manage) to pre-order the console is another matter.
