Germany today reported 2,828 new infections with the new coronavirus, the highest number registered since April in the country, according to data from the Robert Koch Institute (RKI). Find out more here.

08h24 – Mozambican province wants children with a mask or can pick them up from the streets
Authorities in the province of Manica, in central Mozambique, today launched an appeal for children selling on the streets to wear masks to prevent covid-19, otherwise they are considering collecting them by the police.

7:49 am – Trump suspends negotiations with Democrats over new aid plan
The President of the United States abruptly suspended negotiations with Democrats on new aid for families and businesses affected by the new coronavirus pandemic.
“I asked my representatives to stop negotiating until after the elections,” he wrote on Twitter, accusing Democratic leader Nancy Pelosi of not negotiating “in good faith”.
“As soon as I win, we will vote for a big aid plan that will focus on American workers and small businesses,” he added., postponing negotiations until after the presidential election scheduled for November 3.

The number of infected people in Bragança homes increased to 120. The outbreak in these Misericódia institutions started two weeks ago. 102 users and 18 employees have already been infected.

Beja Hospital
It is planned for this Wednesday the reopening of the emergency obstetrics of the Hospital of Beja. The service has been shut down because of a Covid-19 outbreak.
There were not enough doctors to complete the scales. Thirty health professionals at the unit were infected with the new coronavirus.
The picture in Portugal
A further 14 people died with Covid-19 in Portugal between Monday and Tuesday, according to the latest epidemiological bulletin from the Directorate-General for Health. It is the highest daily number of deaths since about four months ago.
Since the beginning of the pandemic, 2032 people have died in the country.
There are still 427 new cases of infection to register, totaling 80,329.
Hospitalizations had a significant increase: there are 31 more hospitalized patients.
The international framework
The Covid-19 pandemic has already caused more than one million and forty-five thousand deaths and more than 35.5 million cases of infection worldwide, according to the balance sheet which is constantly being updated by the agency France Presse.
After Europe succeeded China as the center of the pandemic in February, the American continent remains today as the one with the most confirmed cases of infection and the most deaths.
The World Health Organization announced on Tuesday that the vaccine against Covid-19 – the disease caused by the coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 – may be available by the end of the year.
This possibility was admitted by the director-general of WHO, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, at the end of a meeting that brought together the highest officials in the organization.
The Covax consortium alone already has nine vaccines in the experimental phase.
