The interruption was made by Irwan before Work Creation Act passed in a plenary session at the DPR Building, Senayan, Jakarta, Monday (5/10/2020) afternoon. At first, Azis gave Irwan the opportunity to speak.
“Thank you, Chairman, full of struggle to be present in this room in the midst of COVID-19. Thank you for the opportunity,” said Irwan, opening his interruption after obtaining permission from Azis as chairman of the trial.
Then Irwan reaffirmed the rejection of the Democratic Faction over the deliberation of the Job Creation Bill. Even Irwan was cheered on by other DPR members in the plenary room because the Democrats’ rejection had already been repeated.
“Be patient, be patient …. And ask for a postponement of the discussion regarding the decision-making related to this Work Copyright Bill. Leaders, why is this in a hurry, Leaders? People outside are wondering, friends in this room,” said Irwan.
Azis Syamsuddin then asked Irwan to firmly convey the substance of his interruption. Azis assessed that the substance had been delivered by Irwan.
“Leadership, not yet, this law has the potential to further aggravate environmental damage, then eliminate our authority in the regions, eliminate the rights of the little people,” said Irwan again, who still wanted to convey his interruption.
Azis was then seen whispering with Puan who was sitting next to him at the DPR leadership table. Before long, the lady pressed the button on her desk.
“Friends, if you want to be appreciated, please …” said Irwan, whose sentence was then interrupted after Puan pressed the button.
After that, Azis then continued his statement. He reminded again that the process was already running according to its stages. Democrats have also conveyed their views through these stages, but the majority of factions in the DPR agree that the Work Creation Bill will continue its discussion at level II to be passed.
“Very well, Pak Irwan, discussions at the first level of discussion have been carried out. The Democratic faction has been at work meetings, panja meetings, thymus meetings, etc. And talks at the first level have been carried out,” said Azis.

“The Democratic faction has delivered it and what has become part of the PD faction not to be repeated at this plenary session,” continued the Golkar politician.
The Secretary of the PDIP faction in the DPR RI, Bambang Wuryanto, also touched upon Azis Syamsuddin ‘whisperings. He defended Puan, who was an elite party.
According to Bambang, Puan turned off Irwan’s mic because there was a request from Azis as chairman of the trial. The button to turn off Irwan’s mic is on the table of Puan, who is the Speaker of the DPR.
“You can see the whispers in the conversation. Then they stop through the leadership table. I see. Stop talking through the leadership table,” Bambang told reporters, Tuesday (6/10/2020).
Bambang, who currently serves as Deputy Chairman of Commission VII DPR RI, said the chairman of the session has the authority to stop the proceedings if they are deemed to deviate from the rules of the DPR RI. He considered that at that time Azis felt the need to stop interruptions from members of the Democratic faction who were judged to have deviated from the regulations. Because of that, Azis also asked for help so that Puan turned off the mic.
“Those who arranged the trial Pak Azis Syamsuddin felt the need to stop the conversation that was already outside the order. Now that’s asking for help because that’s the mic is on the leadership table. Ask Miss Puan, ‘please ask for that’,” said Bambang.
