Constantin Film has just announced that an all-new Resident Evil movie is coming. It is a reboot of screenwriter-director Johannes Roberts (47 Meters Down), which must remain very faithful to the first games in Capcom’s famous game series. The story is set in Raccoon City in 1998.
The games’ iconic roles are fulfilled by (seen below clockwise from top left) Kaya Scodelario (als Claire Redfield), Robbie Amell (als Chris Redfield), Hannah John-Kamen (as Jill Valentine) Neal McDonough (als William Birkin), Avan Jogia (as Leon S. Kennedy) and Tom Hopper (as Albert Wesker).
Roberts said the following about what to expect from the film:
“With this film, I want to go back to the first two games and capture the feeling I got when I first played them, focusing on the human story in a small, demolished American city and winning over the audience. ”
A different course
With the new film, the makers are clearly going in a different direction than the films of Paul W.S. Anderson met Jovovich mile. Franchise producer Robert Kulzer returns and will co-produce with James Harris and Hartley Gorenstein. Sony Pictures’ Screen Gems will handle the distribution.
In the meantime, work is still being done on both a live-action series and an animated series for Netflix. These projects seem to be separate from the just announced movie.
