Georgia tries to “buy back” from border guards with “Rolex” watch – Criminal

On Tuesday, September 29, border guards in Kaplava parish detained a Georgian citizen who had crossed the state border illegally and offered to buy a Rolex men’s watch and a bribe of 100 US dollars in an attempt to “buy back” from the border guards.

On Tuesday morning, while performing official duties on the highway P69 in Kaplava parish, a suspicious person was observed, who, noticing the border guards, fled. As a result of the search, the border guards detained a Georgian citizen who had previously crossed the state border illegally.

To be released, the man offered a bribe to the border guards – a men’s Rolex watch and $ 100.

Criminal proceedings have been initiated against a Georgian citizen born in 1989 for bribery and intentional illegal crossing of the state’s external border. The person was detained and placed in the State Police Temporary Detention Center.

On September 30 of this year, criminal proceedings in the first part of Article 284 of the Criminal Law – for intentional illegal crossing of the state external border and in the first part of Article 323 of the Criminal Law – for offering a bribe, ie material values ​​(100 USD and Rolex to release the detained person using his official position, to transfer the signs of the intended criminal offense to the Kraslava District Prosecutor’s Office for prosecution against a Georgian citizen under an accelerated procedure, while on Thursday, October 1, the Kraslava District Prosecutor’s Office sentence of three months and 15 days. The judgment shall take effect within 10 days.
