Corona also mentally debilitating

The corona virus demands a lot from society and the mental resilience of all Dutch people. There is loss on all fronts. People who get sick or lose a loved one. Entrepreneurs who are hit hard. People who lose their jobs. Young people who are limited in everything that matters when you are young. People who are lonely. Corona is therefore a virus that can be debilitating not only physically but also mentally.

Room for special stories

With the national initiative ‘Attention to each other’, the government wants to support the many initiatives that have arisen around corona. To stimulate this movement, a website has been launched, www.aandachtvoorelkaar.nl, on which initiatives – from small to large – are collected. Municipalities, (social) organizations, companies and individuals have been invited to register their initiatives via this website. People can also share their personal story via this website. So that there is attention for each other’s grief, disappointment and uncertainty. The many great initiatives and actions can be an inspiration to help each other to get through this difficult period.

Kick-off in 1931 Congress Center

During the kick-off in ‘s-Hertogenbosch, Prime Minister Rutte and Minister De Jonge will talk to ten residents of Brabant and Bosschen. In recent months, they have come into contact with the corona virus in various ways: from patients and healthcare professionals to entrepreneurs and people from education. These people, together with the two ministers, are then guests at a broadcast of ‘Tijd voor Max’. This program will be broadcast live on NPO 1 from 5.10 pm.

Annual Week of Loneliness

The kick-off of ‘Attention for each other’ takes place during the annual Week of Loneliness (1 to 8 October) initiated by the Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sport. More information about this week can be found at www.eentegeneenzaamheid.nl. The period of ‘Attention to each other’ lasts until the end of this year.
