Two matches are waiting for the Latvian football team this week – the team has already gone to Podgorica, where it will play a test match against the Montenegrins on Wednesday. On Saturday, guests can meet the Faroe Islands national team in the League of Nations (UEFA) League of Nations.
The preparation phase for the team led by Dainis Kazakevics before the Games of the Nations League away against the Faroe Islands and on October 13 at home against Malta turned out to be full. Already a week ago, it was realized that the coaches in the test match against Montenegro could place several debutants in the regular team, for whom it could be a great opportunity to win minutes of play in official matches as well.
Krišs Kārkliņš, the national team’s midfielder, admitted in an interview on Latvian Television that the opportunity to play is also an opportunity to prove himself, moreover, the work in training does not go unnoticed by the coaches either.
The team consists of all the players selected by Kazakevich, only Igor Tarasov replaced Antony Chernomordy at the last minute due to injury. Latvia is still without victories in the League of Nations, but for the players of the last line-up, the practice of playing in clubs is not the biggest. Also to Krister Tober, who plays in Poland, who has just recovered from an injury and visited Latvia for the first time in the last ten months.
Tobers said that guilt is always easy to see from the side, but the thinking and feelings in the field are completely different. “We just have to try to find our game and understand what we really want,” said the national team’s midfielder. “I don’t think the results will be missed anyway,” he added.
After the test match in Montenegro, the Latvian national team must fight against the Faroe Islands, the leader of the League of Nations group, on Saturday.
