In Italy, a rare diesel UAZ-469 was put up for sale, which was released in 1984, but has stood in the garage for the last 28 years. Told about the find motor.ru.
Since the early 1970s, UAZs were in good demand in Italy, since the Ulyanovsk plant was lucky with an importer – the Martorelli brothers’ firm took over the sales. Martorelli considered the distribution of UAZs not only as a business: the brothers successfully participated in Soviet SUVs in races, which contributed to the creation of the image of an all-terrain vehicle with outstanding cross-country ability.
Diesel UAZ-469 – small-scale production of the Martorelli studio for the European market. Italian engineers installed an atmospheric 76-horsepower 2.5-liter Peugeot XD2 diesel engine (UAZ Marathon) or a 2.4-liter 100-horsepower VM turbodiesel (UAZ-Dakar) instead of the standard gasoline engine.
A copy of the UAZ-469 Marathon put up for sale hit the Apennines in 1984. For eight years he managed to run over almost 75 thousand km. But then for some reason he was forgotten in the garage for 28 years.
All components and assemblies are original, although a comprehensive restoration is indispensable. A confluence of circumstances allowed the body and the frame to be preserved: there is no perforating corrosion, although the doors are corroded by rust. Rubber seals require replacement, interior – constrictions. It’s all the more surprising that the SUV is on the move.
The only non-original components of the diesel UAZ are Japanese Bridgestone tires, installed to replace decayed Soviet tires. The rest of the SUV is fully complete, there are all the plates and accompanying documents.
The seller wants to bail out 1900 euros for a 36-year-old Soviet SUV. Geographically, UAZ-469 is located in the south-west of Italy in the Calabria region.
