On Saturday, October 3, compared to the previous day, the daily average concentration of PM10 particles has slightly decreased, still remaining at a high level in Riga and the south-western part of Latvia.
Accordingly, the air quality index in Riga is assessed as very poor, but in the rest of Latvia – poor.
The LEGMC reminds that people with respiratory problems must still be careful. European Commission Recommendations in case of high air pollution: Members of the vulnerable group, such as children with asthma, adults with heart problems, should limit walking and exercise more. Anyone who feels a sore throat or a cough should limit physical activity and walking outdoors.
On Sunday and early weeks in the beginning, weather will be determined by the northeastern edge of the cyclone, in places, mainly in the east of the country, it will rain from time to time, and the southwest wind will still dominate. Therefore, there is a possibility that dust / smoke clouds will still be brought from the south-east.
However, the upper layers of the atmosphere are already dominated by southerly winds, which reduce the transfer of air mass flows from the east.
According to the forecasts of the European Commission’s “Copernicus” Atmospheric Monitoring Service, PM10 pollution in Latvian airspace is expected to be lower on October 4, only in the eastern part of the border concentration will not exceed 30 µg / m³ and in the rest of Latvia 20 µg / m³. At this forecast, air quality is assessed as average-good.
