jpnn.com, JAKARTA – PT Pertamina and PT Pegadaian collaborate through the TJSL waste management program.

This Pertamina Waste Bank will later convert used cooking oil into biodiesel which is combined with the Pegadaian Waste Bank through the Gold Saving Waste Sorting program.

With this innovation, it is hoped that it can overcome waste and environmental problems, as well as improve the welfare of the community by obtaining higher economic value.

Pertamina Corporate Secretary Tajudin Noor said the collaboration between PT Pertamina and PT Pegadaian in terms of managing the Waste Bank is a synergy between BUMNs that prioritizes inclusive and collaborative aspects to build public awareness in waste management.

Through this program, it is hoped that Pertamina and Pegadaian can contribute to supporting the government in achieving SDGs point 7 clean and affordable energy, point 8 increasing inclusive and sustainable economic growth, point 12 responsible consumption and production and achieving SDG point 17 revitalizing global partnerships.

“It is hoped that in the future, besides being more concerned about the environment, the community will also become more aware that waste also has economic value, at the same time we want to educate people to be more environmentally friendly by managing waste,” said Tajudin.

Pertamina’s Vice President for Corporate Communication, Fajriyah Usman said that the Waste Bank, which is under Pertamina’s guidance, has succeeded in processing used cooking oil into biodiesel fuel and has even received certification so that there is an opportunity to support the new and renewable energy movement.

“This collaboration is expected to attract the interest of the public to collect used cooking oil, especially housewives, to exchange it for gold savings,” explained Fajriyah.
