It is a shame that the former Italian minister of the interior, Matteo Salvini, is being put on trial, and not people smugglers, said the head of Hungarian diplomacy Peter Szijjarto on his Facebook profile.
Illegal immigration poses a serious threat to Europe in terms of security, culture, and now also health. Matteo Salvini, as interior minister, has prevented gangs of people smuggling people, calling themselves NGOs, from bringing illegal migrants to Italy and thus to Europe. It is a shame that Italy is now bringing Salvini to trial, not the smugglers !!!

On Saturday in a court in Catania, Sicily, the proceedings in the case of the league leader Matteo Salvini were postponed until November 20. He is charged with the deprivation of liberty of 116 migrants held on board an Italian Coast Guard vessel at his request.
What did Salvini do?
The case concerns the events of July 2019, when Salvini, as the head of the Ministry of the Interior, did not allow the Coast Guard ship “Gregoretti” with the migrants rescued at sea for four days to enter the Sicilian port of Augusta and to disembark. Salvini agreed to release the migrants from the ship only after five EU countries – France, Ireland, Germany, Portugal and Luxembourg – agreed to accept them.
Former deputy prime minister in the previous government, and now the senator, explains his behavior with the fact that he wanted to force other EU countries to show solidarity with Italy and help them in the migration crisis.
