“VEF Rīga” basketball players convincingly beat BC “Ogre” at the beginning of the season / Article / LSM.lv

The state champions “VEF Rīga” won the first game of BC “Ogre” in the first game of the Latvian-Estonian basketball league in the new season of the Latvian-Estonian basketball league 81:63 after the convincing start of the match on Saturday.

Aigars Šķēle forged the success with 19 points, while Michael Kaizer and Krister Zorik had 13 points each. Kaspars Bērziņš stood out in the Ogre team with 17 points and 10 rebounds.

Earlier on Saturday, in the duel of both Kurzeme clubs, BC “Ventspils” beat the basketball players of BC “Liepāja” with 92:91 guests. Māris Gulbis stood out with 33 points for Ventspils, while Iļja Gromovs with 24 points was the most productive for the owners of the court, for whom Artūrs Visockis-Rubenis made his debut as the head coach.

At the end of the first day of the game, the University of Latvia will be the hostess against “Valmiera Glass / VIA”.

The first part of the season after the two rounds is expected to end on December 5, with Latvian clubs playing only each other due to the risks of the pandemic. On December 9, it is planned to continue the season, with Latvian teams already playing against Estonian clubs. If the epidemiological situation is not favorable, the Latvian teams will continue the tournament with mutual games.
