The new Ciudad de Valencia ferry, the most modern ropax-type ship in the Naviera Armas Trasmediterránea fleet, opens this Tuesday, August 11, on the Cádiz-Canarias line, thus taking over from the Ciudad de Palma ferry.
The delivery of the new ship – the largest of its kind built in the Visentini shipyard – took place on July 30 and has recently been positioned in the port of Cádiz, where it will begin its operational life tomorrow with a weekly rotation.
The Ciudad de Valencia ship is incorporated into the contract signed with the State until March 2022 and represents a significant improvement on the Cádiz-Canarias line, both in rotation times, as well as in service agility and cargo and passenger capacity, so that every Thursday allows you to arrive very early to Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and Santa Cruz de Tenerife.
In both ports, in addition, all possible combinations are provided with the inter-island service of Naviera Armas Trasmediterránea, in a radio program that connects the entire archipelago, being the only shipping company that currently makes it possible.
The duration of the trip between Cádiz and Arrecife is shortened by three hours so that every Wednesday it will arrive in Lanzarote at 7.30 pm. The next stopover will be in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, where it will arrive at 02:00 on Thursday and at dawn it will continue to Santa Cruz de Tenerife, being docked at 08:00, so that every Thursday it operates in the two main ports of Canarias, which constitutes a novel bet in the extraordinary service provided by Naviera Armas Trasmediterránea.
The ship Ciudad de Valencia will wake up every Friday in the port of Santa Cruz de La Palma, on a stopover that guarantees the second weekly shipment of the island banana production to the mainland markets. On the return trip, on Friday night, it will be back in Santa Cruz de Tenerife and every Saturday it will dock in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Puerto del Rosario (Fuerteventura) and Arrecife de Lanzarote, starting at dawn on Sunday the return to Cádiz, where it will arrive at 08:00 on Monday, also shortening the duration of the trip by three hours.
The incorporation of the ship to the Cádiz-Canarias line means increasing the cargo capacity by 30 percent compared to the current offer, which fully ensures the transportation needs of ro-ro cargo of the clients of Naviera Armas Trasmediterránea.
The new Ciudad de Valencia ship is a “smartship” with an area of 1,500 square meters on two decks for leisure and enjoyment for a thousand passengers on short international trips distributed in differentiated environments. Due to its accommodation capacity, spaciousness and on-board services – in which Naviera Armas Trasmediterránea has turned all its experience -, it makes it a very attractive boat for the Cádiz-Canarias line, where it is presented as the most outstanding novelty of summer 2020 .
It has accommodation for 604 passengers in 151 quadruple cabins plus another four Premium class cabins and two cabins for passengers with reduced mobility (PRM), as well as three rooms with Pullman seats for 189 passengers and one of them VIP class, reception, shopping area , self-service food-lounge, two lounge bar areas, nursery, wi-fi connection, as well as a large terrace on deck 7 and other services.
