During the night from Friday to Saturday, a violent fire destroyed an agricultural building in Basse-Rentgen. Located at the exit of the village, the hangar is far from the houses. The fire did not cause any injuries but the damage was significant for the operator. The building housed straw bales and agricultural machinery. The equipment could be put aside but 1,500 m² of fodder stock went up in smoke. The emergency services were able to prevent the fire from spreading to a second hangar located nearby.
Significant resources of firefighters were deployed before midnight Friday. They were still at work all morning, this Saturday, to watch the straw which continued to burn.
The causes of the fire remain for the moment, undetermined. The gendarmes of the company of Thionville are present on the scene.
