Training Center for General Practitioners, starting the second year

Official inauguration of the second training course in general medicine in Aprica.

Training course in general medicine

With the DG of the ATS della Montagna were the DG of ASST Valtellina and Alto Lario, Tommaso Saporito, Roberto Furloni of the ASST Valcamonica, Tiziana Panzera, didactic coordinator of the GP and Alessandro Colombo, president of Polis. Since last year, as is known, the Mountain ATS, has become the headquarters of the Training Center for the three-year period 2018/2021. An opportunity to welcome the new trainees – currently 17 effective but the class will be 21 – and to take stock of the situation and thank the second year students who, despite themselves, in the middle of their academic year, they are faced with nothing less than a pandemic. The 19 trainees – now in their second year – were able to attend the training activity in person until March 2020, subsequently through video lessons. 63 seminars, 34 tutors and 252 hours of didactic path allowed the 19 trainees to complete their theoretical training. Not only that, since the beginning of the academic activity, more than 800 hours have been provided in the various departments of the ASST Valtellina and Valchiavenna and of the ASST Valcamonica, where 10 and 9 aspiring general practitioners have operated respectively. Despite the health emergency, the theoretical activity was modified and the hospital internship was replaced by various activities in support of the difficult situation of those months.

Important contribution

The trainees made their very appreciable contribution by carrying out epidemiological surveillance tasks, replacing GPs who in the meantime had fallen ill, working in the USCA or as Continuity Care doctors. A truly unexpected and challenging baptism for them. Both theoretical and practical lessons have resumed since July, also allowing the start of a new training course. “A wish for good study and good work to those who are starting their three-year career – commented the general manager, Lorella Cecconami, and a special thanks to the trainees who have reached their second year who in recent months have spent themselves without reserve contributing to the management of the health emergency in the area. A special thanks also goes to the two ASSTs who help and support us in organizing the practical activity of the Training Center “.
