Police spokeswoman Miluše Zajícová informed the right about the postponement on Friday. However, the case is not yet completely closed, as the family members of the deceased girls filed a complaint against the police resolution.

The tragedy happened last evening on September 14 on Lipnická Street in places where a speed of 90 kilometers per hour was allowed at the time. Traffic signs have already been modified on the basis of this tragedy and the speed is reduced to 50 kilometers per hour, also in connection with the modification of the markings of the beginning and end of Přerov, which is now moved towards the Lýsky district.

At that time, two girls and two boys crossed the busy road. They all headed for the shortcut under the railway line to the local part of Předmostí. The boys managed to cross to the other side, the girls were hit by a passing car. They died on the spot.

“After the investigation, we issued a resolution to postpone the case,” the spokeswoman said. The postponement of the file was preceded by an annual investigation; in March this year, the police also reconstructed the case at the scene of the tragedy.

According to Zajícová, the file was handed over by the police to the District Public Prosecutor’s Office in Přerov, together with complaints lodged against the resolution of the police authority by family members of the deceased girls. “The case is currently being assessed by the public prosecutor’s office,” the spokeswoman added.
