Apple finally cancels out dated variant iPhone 12 Pro (Max)

Thank goodness the iPhone 12 Pro and Pro Max don’t get 64GB of storage space anymore. Finally, Apple is ditching that outdated format. Well, at least partially.

Apple annually comes with a whole laundry list of iPhones, of which each version within a series receives a different amount of storage space. The brand invariably combines this with a lack of expandable memory. Fortunately, Apple is scrapping the scantest 64GB model for the upcoming iPhone 12 Pro and Pro Max. Because let’s face it, a smartphone of at least a thousand euros with 64GB of storage space is scandalous, right?

Apple is scrapping 64GB iPhone 12 Pro

Apple always asks a lot for an iPhone, so you can expect something. So far, the entry-level models in a series have always started at 64GB or even 32GB of storage space. That is according to analyst Jon Prosser different with the Apple iPhone 12 Pro Max, which will not get an entry-level model with 64GB of storage space. Instead, the two thickest versions in the 12 series would start at 128GB.

There are also options for the few who nowadays still need 64GB. According to the same source get the brand new iPhone 12 Mini and the standard iPhone 12 is a variant with 64GB storage space.

Storage space is a revenue model

Again, it is of course time for Apple to get rid of that absurd amount of storage space. Well, for a budget phone that might be enough, but if you pay more than a thousand euros, you can expect some extra memory. Especially since memory is a relatively cheap component.

Not that anyone thinks it’s a cost issue; it is a matter of earnings for Apple. The billion-dollar company always charges a lot extra for the more expensive models in a series. Because iPhones never have expandable memory, this is a clever revenue model.
