Kariņš goes to the European Council; will decide on China, Russia, Belarus

Prime Minister Krišjānis Kariņš (JV) will take part in an extraordinary European Council on Thursday, 1 October and Friday, 2 October, European Union meeting of Heads of State and Government to decide on current European Union (EU) issues, Delfi State Chancellery Communication Department.

The European Council is expected to decide on EU-China relations, as well as on a common EU position in relations with Turkey, Belarus and Russia. It will also discuss EU Single Market, industrial policy and the EU’s digital strategy.

During the European Council, its members and accompanying delegations are subject to strict epidemiological security measures, including physical distancing but, where this is not possible, and the use of face masks indoors.

Following the visit to the European Council, the Prime Minister, in the performance of his duties, plans to work remotely in the coming days and to comply with epidemiological security measures.
