Jakarta

Royal Dutch Shell or better known as Shell will cut 9,000 employees. Work termination (PHK) This mass was carried out because the Dutch company was hit by a drop in demand for oil during the Corona virus (COVID-19) pandemic.

The pruning of the 9,000 officers will be fully implemented in 2022, including 1,500 recruiting officers.

The total number of Shell employees currently reaches 83,000 people throughout the world, and 6,000 of them are employees in the UK.

CEO Shell Ben van Beurden mengatakan, PHK This mass is the best step to sustain the company in the future. In addition, it is also in order to continue the company’s plan to convert its business to clean energy without emissions.

“It pains us to know that we have to say goodbye to some of the best people. But we are doing this because we have to do it, because it is the right thing to do for the future of the company,” Beurden said as quoted by the BBC on Wednesday (30 / 9/2029),

“We have to act swiftly and decisively and make some very difficult financial decisions to ensure we stay strong, including cutting dividends,” said Van Beurden.

Beurden also expressed his feeling of loss because the company had to lose a number of employees who were victims of COVID-19.

COVID-19 has attacked us in other ways. Unfortunately, we also lost six employees and six fellow contractors because of the virus,” he said.
