KUWAIT CITY, KOMPAS.com – Government cabinet Kuwait appoints the oath of office of the new emir after the death of Sheikh Sabah Al Ahmad on Tuesday (29/9/2020) in Minnesota, United States (US).
Sabah’s successor Sheikh Al Ahmad is his stepbrother, Syekh Nawaf Al Ahmad Al Sabah.
In addition to being sworn in, Sheikh Nawaf was also gazetted Aljazeera will receive the remains of the Sabah Sheikh who is expected to arrive in the Kuwaiti capital Wednesday night.

Sheikh Sabah has a reputation as an outstanding leader who helped guide his country through the 1990 invasion of Iraq, crash in global oil markets and upheavals in parliament and on the streets.
World leaders and Kuwaitis alike laud the legacy of the late emir, architect of the country’s modern foreign policy and mediator in some of the worst crises gripping the Gulf.

“This man is a safety valve for the Arab world, not just for Kuwait,” Bandar Al Dahani, a Kuwaiti, told French media. AFP.
“God willing, the goodness lies with Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf and he will follow the path of the Emir,” he added.
Sheikh Nawaf himself has held high office for decades, taking over Kuwait which is facing the impact of the coronavirus crisis, which triggered a sharp fall in oil prices and severe economic consequences for the Gulf countries.
United Nations (UN) Secretary General Antonio Guterres said the late Sheikh Sabah was a symbol of extraordinary wisdom and generosity, a messenger of peace and a bridge builder.
And US President Donald Trump this month also awarded the US Legion of Merit, the title of Supreme Commander, to the Sheikh of Sabah.
