CDPR broke a promise. Cyberpunk 2077 developers will work 6 days a week

The studio plans to be in time for the release date

In 2019, CD Projekt approached Jason Schreier with a request to talk about the culture of working on Cyberpunk 2077. The journalist was assured that employees would not overwork, and the head of the company, Marcin Iwinski, during an interview promised to do without so-called crunches.

Schreyer recently received a letter on condition of anonymity in which one of the developers posted a message from Adam Badovsky. The head of the studio emphasizes that despite the optimistic mood about the premiere of Cyberpunk 2077, the developers need to eliminate “multiple bugs”, so everyone will have to work 6 days a week. This will be a “typical” one-day job, Badowski said. All overtime is charged at the regular rate.

Badovski noted that Cyberpunk 2077 is currently undergoing certification. Sony and Microsoft have already received and are verifying the files.

“It is my responsibility to secure full support for this decision. I know this is in direct conflict with what we said about crunch. It also directly contradicts what I personally believed recently – crunch is not the answer to the problem. But we used all other ways to fix this situation. “

Schreyer also learned that individual employees have been working on Cyberpunk 2077 at night and on weekends for over a year. Probably, the studio still plans to be in time for the November premiere.
