Between June 11 and 17, 450 people were tested at Sarcelles (Val-d’Oise) and 27 cases of Covid-19 were found in this town of 63,000 inhabitants.
Several other cases of cities affected by an upsurge in contamination were recorded without the health authorities being able to confirm that it is an epidemic focus.
Thus, according to Abdel Benyahya, pharmacist in Sarcelles, this sudden rise in the rate of cases is the result of themassive tracking.
“The more tests we have, the more cases we have, that’s normal”, deduces the pharmacist.
The positive case rate would thus be higher than the national average.
7.1% of those tested are positive in Sarcelles while the average in Île-de-France is around 1.9%.
Second wave?
“These results show a high local incidence, but do not reveal a cluster. They are not sufficiently significant to deduce from them an epidemic resumption ”, affirms Aurélien Rousseau, general manager of Ars.
Five screening operations are scheduled until Wednesday, June 24, in particular in a shopping center and social hotels.
Serological tests, allowing to date the time when the person had Covid-19, will also be offered.
“We will be able to know if these positive tests are the end of the first wave, or the start of a new one. But it is too early to say that there is a second wave, “tempers Patrick Haddad, mayor Ps.
The reopening of the libraries and the swimming pool scheduled for Monday June 22 is suspended.
Vigilance and observance of barrier gestures is advocated within religious communities which have returned to their places of worship.
