Schumacher and Ilott will start in the first practice at the Eifel Grand Prix – F1sport.cz

Callum Ilott drives a Haas car, Mick Schumacher gets in an Alfa Romeo car. Robert Shwartzman, who is scheduled to take part in his first practice in Abu Dhabi, can also look forward to it, but it has not yet been confirmed which of the two teams he named.

Schumacher and Illot are currently in the top two in the Formula 2 Championship and both have a chance to win a Formula 1 seat next year – in the Alfa Romeo and Haas teams.

Of course, Schumacher thanked Alfa Romeo and the Ferrari Riding Academy for the opportunity.

“I am very happy that I got this chance in free practice,” said Schumacher. “The fact that my first participation in the Formula 1 weekend will take place in front of my home audience at the Nürburgring makes this moment even more special.”

“In the next ten days, I will be well prepared to do the best possible job for the team and get valuable data.”

“It’s amazing to have this chance on the track, which is one of my favorites. That’s where I got the first podium of my career in 2015, “said Illot. “The Nürburgring means a lot to me. It’s a track with a real heritage, so it’s great that I will have my first participation in the Formula 1 race weekend there. “

First a test with an older car

Schumacher, Illot and Shwartzman will ride in an F1 car before the Eifel Grand Prix. They will be testing in Fioran tomorrow with a Ferrari car from 2018.

“There is no doubt that Mick is one of the great talents,” said Frédéric Vasseur. According to him, Schumacher’s results prove it.

“He’s fast, but he’s also consistent and mature behind the wheel. These are all characteristic features of the future champion. He impressed us with his approach and work ethic at the time he was with us last year and we look forward to further cooperation with him at the Nürburgring. “
