This means the orange and green dot in iOS 14
iOS 14 adds a lot of improvements. Not only has the home screen been given a makeover, Apple is also questioning the privacy rules of apps. Have you also noticed that an orange or green dot occasionally appears at the top right of your screen? That could be right.
The bubble acts as a warning that one of your open apps is using your camera or microphone. In this way, Apple wants to prevent apps from sneaking into the background or eavesdropping on you. But what exactly do the colors mean?
- A green dot confesses that an app uses your iPhone camera.
- A orange ball appears when the microphone (in the background) is being used by an app. For example, if you record a voice message in WhatsApp, you will see the orange dot.
This way you can check which app is watching or listening in the background
If you see a green or orange dot while you know that you have opened an app where your microphone or camera is active, nothing is wrong. But don’t you have a clue which app is using your camera or microphone in the background? Then you can find out by opening the control panel.
Here you can see at the top which app has recently used your camera or microphone. To stop this, turn off this app by swiping up from your home screen and holding it. Swipe the apps up to turn them off.
