WARTAKOTALIVE.COM – It should be noted that most children and adolescents infected with the Covid-19 virus only have mild or no symptoms.
However, there are several conditions in children that make it vulnerable to serious complications.
A new report by the American Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) shows that older children and adolescents are more at risk for developing deadly complications, including multisystem inflammatory syndrome and respiratory failure.
The report analyzes data on 121 children who died from Covid-19-related illnesses between February and July 2020 in America.
Of these, 70 percent are aged 10-20 years.
“The youngest children seem to be most protected from this virus,” says Center for Infectious Diseases for Children Director, Camille Sabella, MD.
Three out of four children who die from Covid-19 have at least one underlying medical condition.
The medical conditions most commonly reported are asthma, obesity, heart conditions, and neurological and developmental conditions.
Children with this condition are advised to take extra precautions against Covid-19.
