Below you can read the reaction of Zorgverzekeraars Nederland to the Radar broadcast about breast implants.
The Zorginstituut has determined that the removal of a breast prosthesis (explant) is insured care when the complaints may be the result of the breast prosthesis (see also the Zorginstituut’s position in this area). Health insurers consider it a good thing that scientific research is conducted into methods to determine whether the prosthesis is indeed the cause of the complaints. After agreement between the Zorginstituut, the health insurers and science, the results of that research can be put into practice. In this way, we contribute together to proven and appropriate care for policyholders.
