“It is a feast for the soul, that people may rest and enjoy.” This is what the organizers say about the fifth performing arts festival “Theater is everywhere in Kuldiga”. Although in a narrower circle and without foreign guests, the anniversary event from September 25 to 27 delighted many Kuldīga residents and justified its name – “Theater is everywhere”!
The beginning of all the events of the performing arts festival “Theater is everywhere in Kuldiga” is the same – filling in the questionnaire with personal data and disinfecting the hands, as well as observing the distance. Although the coronavir introduced adjustments to the program planned for the fifth anniversary festival due to the inability of artists from abroad, the organizers had taken care of a suitable and excellent program, this time arranged for three days. It must be said that this festival in Kuldiga has already become a popular and long-awaited event in the autumn.
“Every year, the interest grows not only from Kuldīga residents, but also from the artists themselves,” noted Dana Bjorka, the festival’s artistic director.
The participants of the festival admitted that they had to adapt the programs to the current situation.
This time, too, viewers had the opportunity to see the latest productions and short films, as well as events created especially for this anniversary.
In the birthday concert, which took place in the open air so that more spectators could attend it, one could enjoy various artistic expressions – the wonders created by the illusionist Jelena Palchevska, performances by Latvian National Opera and ballet artists, jazz and songs from various theater performances.
Kuldīdzniece Elīna Voika admitted that she tries to attend one of the events of this festival every year, because it is a great opportunity if a professional theater is the one who comes to visit.
Every year, the festival also considers charity and raises funds for a need – this time for the creation of new stage costumes for the musically creative studio “Mona” of the Kuldīga Children and Youth Center.
The festival takes place with the support of Kuldīga municipality, but its organizer and author of the idea is the Foundation “Performing Arts Producers Foundation”.
