Taxi users in Galicia can now occupy all the rear seats

The Galician taxi can now return almost to normal, as customers can occupy the rear seats, although the passenger seat will have to be left free to guarantee safe mobility, the Ministry of Infrastructure and Mobility reported this Tuesday,

This was announced by the representative of the Xunta, Ethel Vázquez, to the representatives of the group at a meeting in A Coruña.

The measure affects transport vehicles with up to nine seats, taking into account that users usually have links between them.

The Ministry of Transport lifted the capacity restrictions on buses last week, which is why the Xunta has considered “reasonable” to do the same in taxis.

The councilor stressed that, with the increase in travel after Galicia yesterday exceeded the state of alarm, “it is necessary to work to generate confidence in public transport and promote safe mobility.”

In addition to the information campaign with advice for taxi users to pay preferably by card and use masks, an order for aid from the Xunta has been launched, endowed with 300,000 euros, for the installation of 4,000 protective screens in the vehicles of taxi and rental with driver.
