The Vigo festivities will last until September and will be in almost 30 points of the city | Radio Vigo

The Vigo City Council has decided to extend the time and space framework of the summer festivals, which will have events during the months of July, August and September, and with almost thirty locations in the city.

This was advanced at a press conference by the mayor, Abel Caballero, who explained that the local government has given the green light to these new circumstances this Thursday, taking into account the exceptional nature of the situation due to the coronavirus pandemic.

“They will be different parties, we will occupy the entire city,” said the councilor, who has advanced that there will be events “for all ages” and in more diverse places.

Thus, in addition to the Casco Vello, in the Nautical area, Porta do Sol or Bouzas, events will be held in rural parishes, in Coia, Navia, O Castro, Castrelos (small stage), Samil, the park of A Riouxa, or San Roque, and so on up to 29 different places.

In addition, and within the summer festivals, this Friday begins the series of concerts in a reduced format ‘TerraCeo’, on the terrace of the Mar de Vigo Auditorium. Artists such as Los Secretos, Amaral, M-Clan, Love of Lesbian, Andrés Suárez, Luis Zahera, Rober Bodegas, Pablo López, Marlango or Miss Caffeine, among others, will pass through this singular stage.

COVID PREVENTION IN PARKS

On the other hand, Abel Caballero has also reported that the Governing Board has approved the award of the contract for the installation of posters and information stickers on the prevention of COVID-19 in playgrounds, biosaludables and sports courts, worth 34,500 euros.

The disinfection service for these parks and facilities has also been awarded for three months, for a total of 198,250 euros. For this action, the mayor stressed, “the best technology and the best known viricides” will be used.

Finally, the green light has also been given to the hiring for 3 months, for 123,000 euros, of auxiliary capacity monitoring services in these parks. For this there will be “seven motorized teams” that will perform this task.

Abel Caballero has stressed that all these services would cost the municipal coffers of 1.5 million euros a year, and has again criticized that the Xunta de Galicia “does not contribute a penny” for these tasks.
