A citizen of Braga, Filipe Teixeira, from Ferreiros, complained, yesterday, at the start of the Municipal Assembly, the reopening of the access of volunteers – more than 40 – from the various animal protection associations in the city to the municipal kennel, ending with the cut that was imposed by AGERE at the beginning of the pandemic.
The citizen praised the work of the volunteers in defense of the dignity of the animals and their physical and psychological well-being, and said that it is not understandable that the access, after seven months, remains prohibited: “if the animal is not well from the point from a psychological and emotional point of view adoption becomes more difficult ”.

THE voluntary therefore asked for a vote of unlock of the entry of volunteers, emphasizing that this is a “citizenship right”.
In the end, Rio clarified that, as the kennel is adjacent to AGERE services, where hundreds of workers are concentrated daily, it was understood that, for health reasons, those of the eventual transmission of covid-19, it would be forbidden to access people. strangers to the service: “If AGERE’s service stopped or decreased due to the virus, the whole city was affected. That is what was taken care of ”.
He praised the work of the volunteers, and said that the welfare of the animals is guaranteed by the veterinarians and by the kennel staff, noting that the volunteers have been able to access the kennel at the weekend, a period when there are fewer AGERE workers in the area .
