Over the past 24 hours, 2,507 cases of coronavirus infection were recorded in Germany, the Berlin Institute of Robert Koch (RKI). Nine people died. A day earlier there were 2,153 new infections and 15 deaths.
The highest number of infections per day was diagnosed in Germany at the beginning of April – over 6,000.
According to the RKI, the total number of infections in Germany since the start of the pandemic is 282,730 and deaths are 9,452.
The main outbreaks of the virus are currently senior care centers, hospitals and refugee centers, according to the Institute.
Among the German federal states, the highest number of infections has so far been detected in North Rhine-Westphalia, Bavaria and Baden-Württemberg, and the least in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, which is adjacent to Poland.
Record in Ukraine
In Ukraine, 3,833 coronavirus infections were confirmed the previous day, 76 people died and 1,740 recovered, according to Saturday’s data from the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine. This is the highest daily infection balance since the start of the pandemic.
On Friday, the highest number of new infections was recorded in Kiev – 447. Previously, the highest daily balance, 3584 infected with SARS-CoV-2, was reported on September 16.
In total, 195,504 people have been confirmed in Ukraine since the beginning of the epidemic, 3,903 patients have died, and 86,873 patients have recovered. There are currently 104,728 active cases of SARS-CoV-2.
Until October 31, the so-called adaptive quarantine, i.e. adjusting sanitary restrictions and guidelines to the scale of the epidemic in a given region of the country. Until September 28, there will be a temporary entry ban for foreigners, with some exceptions.
According to the Ministry of Health, there are no data available on coronavirus infections in the Crimea annexed by Russia, in Sevastopol and in the areas of Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts controlled by pro-Russian separatists.
The most significant daily increase in the Czech Republic
The health ministry said on Saturday that 2,946 new cases of coronavirus infection had arrived in the Czech Republic on Friday. This is the most significant daily increase in infections in the past week and the second so high since the beginning of the epidemic.
Since March 1, when the first SARS-CoV-2 infections appeared in the Czech Republic, a total of 61,318 cases have been confirmed. In the week that ended, the daily increase in infections was from 2,300 to almost 3,000 cases.
Health Minister Roman Prymula said on Friday that the daily increase in the number of infections alone is not decisive, and the scale of the pandemic is determined by: the number of hospitalized patients, the use of specialized beds in hospitals and the number of deaths.
There were 740 people in hospitals in the Czech Republic on Friday in connection with Covid-19. This number has more or less quadrupled since the beginning of September. The number of severely ill patients also quadrupled in a month; according to the latest data from the Ministry of Health, there are currently 151 such patients. At the same time, the number of deaths has increased significantly, by one third – 581 have been reported since the outbreak of the pandemic. About 60 patients died last week.
The greatest number of infections is in Prague and in the suburbs of the capital. According to Prymula, there are more and more cases of infections in Prague, the source of which cannot be determined. The percentage of patients at risk of 65+ is also growing.
950 new coronavirus infections detected in the last 24 hours in Hungary; 12 Covid-19 patients have died – the highest number since May 9 – according to data published Saturday on a government website dedicated to the coronavirus pandemic.
The total number of infections detected in Hungary since the start of the pandemic has exceeded 23,000, and the number of deaths from Covid-19 was 730. Almost 5,100 people have recovered.
The number of active infections is growing, of which there are now 17,248. Nearly 600 people require hospital care, 36 of whom breathe with a ventilator.
In Hungary, the second wave of coronavirus infections is taking place, much sharper than the first. Last Sunday, the highest daily increase in infection since the beginning of the pandemic was found – 1070.
