VLAARDINGEN / SCHIEDAM – Daniëlle Speijer goes ‘viral’. This time that had nothing to do with her work as an IC nurse, but especially with her Facebook post about the corona virus. Although … it had everything to do with the hospital and the Corona outbreak. Speijer, who works at Franciscus Gasthuis & Vlietland, is concerned about the way many people now deal with the virus.
She expressed on Facebook her concerns about the corona deniers and the well-known Dutch people who earlier this week rallied behind the group of people who no longer wish to adhere to the measures to prevent corona infection with the hashtag #ikdoenietmeer. The nurse received a lot of response. Her post has been shared 24,000 times to date.
Speijer argues
In March we were ‘care heroes’.
Also ‘well-known Netherlands’ was full of praise.
Applause, even on the radio, could not stop.
Hospital admissions are on the rise again,
As a result of the easing, patients are again in such trouble that admission to a hospital and sometimes to the Intensive Care Unit is necessary.
I get a déjà vu.
We ‘the care heroes’ are ready.
For you, your parents, friends and other family, even if we haven’t recovered from the first wave yet.
Someone has called #ikdoenietmeermee out into the world.
What would happen if the nurse says ‘I’m not participating anymore’ when you or your family / friends need medical care because of the corona virus?
#ikdoenietmeermee is not an option for us.
You don’t worry just because it is your ‘job’,
You worry with your heart, but it doesn’t get any easier.
Does anyone think of the nurse who has to watch people throw in the towel en masse, knowing that we have to work harder every day.
Any idea what it feels like when people say that all these measures are nonsense, even though they have not yet taken a step in a hospital.
Keep swallowing and keep going,
when you know better because you take care of these patients.
We are all tired of measures,
we all want our freedom back
but this is not an option for now.
Every time you call something out into the world, don’t forget that the ‘care heroes’ will soon have to drop everything to take care of you or your family. “
