Skoda will launch the next-generation Fabia compact model in 2021. About this in an interview corporate website of the Czech brand said its new CEO Thomas Schaefer, who took over the company in August this year.
“We are not going to turn Skoda into a cheap brand. We are now looking at companies from South Korea, Japan and France that we can bypass, and are preparing to realize their full potential. I’m already looking forward to the launch of the new Fabia next year. It will be a great car, from which I expect a lot, ”Schaefer said.
The top manager has not yet provided any details about the new model. According to preliminary data, the fourth Skoda Fabia will be built on the modular platform MQB-A0, which is the basis of compact cars of the VW concern: Volkswagen Polo, Seat Ibiza и Audi A1.
From this it follows that the line of engines will include gasoline three-cylinder naturally aspirated and supercharged engines, which, depending on the modification, will work with a manual transmission or with a robotic transmission with two clutches. Presumably, the Fabia will not have diesel units due to strict emission standards.
It is possible that the Skoda Fabia, after the generation change, like other new cars of the Czech brand, will add in size and receive a more spacious interior. The appearance of a station wagon model is in question, since Skoda now has small crossover Kamiq.
