New luxury tenant for the 22 @. The Swedish company specializing in designer furniture has just opened a new office-showroom at 22 @ in Barcelona. This new space, located in the Montoya Passage, in the Poblenou neighborhood, will serve for the brand to show its creations in full operation, since it will serve both office like exposure for the company.
Thus, as explained by Santiago Alorda, head of the brand in Barcelona, to DiaryDesign “It will be a living space, where things will happen.” “We wanted to be in a space inspired by a coworking, in a creative environment where we could create synergies with all kinds of professionals, but not just anyone would do. From the first moment we met Montoya, we knew Vitra had to be here. This commitment allows us to share our experience in creating comfortable, healthy and motivating work spaces ”.
Montoya, located on Ávila street in Poble Nou, is a great minimalist, modernist and industrial space, where design and creativity are the protagonists. According to its creators, “it is a coworking and a place for events, there are exhibitions, there are talks, there is social content and there are fixed and flexible workspaces.
For Vitra, this bet is a considered strategic turn, since the 22 @ district, in addition to being the cradle of technology companies in the city, is the current epicenter of architecture, design and creativity in Barcelona. Montoya is an old factory from the early 20th century.
The industrial complex, which once housed the factory and warehouse of the Solsona i Rius biscuit and chocolate brand, fell into disuse until interior designer Skye Maunsell and designer Jordi Veciana They got it back a couple of years ago.
On the battlefield
In this context, Vitra is integrated not like a classic showroom, but takes its furniture to the battlefield, serving in this space as office furniture. “Nothing better to show what the office of the future will be like than by becoming one of them”, they say from Vitra.
The most emblematic pieces of the brand are exhibited and will be used every day in Montoya. They are located throughout the three floors of the premises, as part of the work areas and will change on a regular basis.
