Even though she is pregnant, this woman unhesitatingly saves her husband from a shark attack

TALLAHASSEE, KOMPAS.com – A pregnant women dive into the sea at Florida Keys to save her husband from attack shark.

According to police information, a 33-year-old man named Andrew Charles Eddy was snorkeling at Sombrero Reef. Shortly after he got into the water suddenly a shark approached and bit him.

Margot Dukes-Eddy, his wife, who saw the shark’s fin and her husband’s blood appearing on the surface of the water suddenly panicked and immediately dived “without hesitation”, said the police officer. BBC on Thursday (24/9/2020).

The wife tried to pull Eddy from the shark’s grip to safety. Meanwhile, his family members who were shocked by the incident immediately called 911.

Eddy was immediately flown to a trauma center in Miami on Sunday (20/09/2020), to be treated for a severe shoulder injury.

Rescue worker Ryan Johnson told local media that Eddy was in “critical condition” when they arrived at the scene.

Johnson explained that the couple, from the state of Georgia, were on vacation in Florida with their family and sailing together on a private boat.

Several other people from their family group were already snorkeling before the fateful incident happened.

Eddy intends to go into the water to join them snorkeling.

Local deputy Christopher Aguanno wrote in the police report that there were other people, not from their group, who were also snorkeling in the area.

Witnesses later reported seeing a large shark about 8-10 feet (1.8-3.05 meters) long, which looked like a bull shark, swimming in the area earlier in the day.

Florida has the highest number of shark attacks in the world, with 21 shark attacks reported in 2019, according to the Florida Museum. However, in general, shark attacks around the world are very rare.
