Scientists chatter about Covid-19 since Wuhan to become a pandemic

Jakarta, CNN Indonesia

A number of claims from the mouths of scientists or researchers from around the world and Indonesia are related to Covid-19 due to infection corona virus SARS-CoV-2 has continued to emerge since the disease emerged in Wuhan, China and cause a pandemic. Many claims can be accepted that cause polemic in the community.

Most recently, for example, Professor of Molecular Biology at Airlangga University (Unair) Surabaya, Chaerul Anwar Nidom, stated that the SARS-CoV-2 corona virus in Indonesia is different from what was first discovered in China.

He said the new corona virus in Indonesia had undergone a mutation and had a more dangerous transmissibility.

“The Indonesian virus is different from Wuhan,” said Chaerul in an interview with CNNIndonesia TV, Wednesday (16/9).

Then, there is also a Chinese virologist who fled to the United States (US), Li Meng Yan said the SARS-CoV-2 corona virus was made in a laboratory owned by China within six months. He said China had engineered the corona virus in bats to produce the SARS-CoV-2 corona virus.

“It came from a laboratory, a laboratory in Wuhan and the laboratory is controlled by the Chinese government,” said Li Meng.

In early August 2020, a doctor and microbiologist named Hadi Pranoto also captured the public’s attention after becoming a guest speaker on the celebrity YouTube video, Anji. He claimed to have found a cure for Covid-19 amidst the entire country still developing vaccines and antiviral drugs for the disease.

Hadi conveyed that his Covid-19 medicine came from Indonesian natural plants.

In early March 2020, scientists in Iceland claimed to have found 40 mutations of the corona virus that cause Covid-19 disease. They found mutations or small changes in the viral genome by analyzing swabs of Covid-19 patients in Iceland.

However, the study by scientists from Iceland has not been formally reviewed by other scientists. Icelandic researchers used genetic sequencing to identify how many mutations the virus accumulated.

In the same month, the Sun Yat-sen University research team stated that the spread of the corona virus could slow down in warmer weather. This is because the virus that causes Covid-19 spreads the fastest in cool ambient temperatures.

“This virus is very sensitive to high temperatures”, quoted the research results of the Sun Yat-sen University.

However, the research collaboration states that summer does not affect the Covid-19 pandemic. The results showed that the epidemic growth was influenced by health interventions.

“We have done preliminary studies that suggest either [garis] both latitude and temperature can play a role. But when we repeated the much more rigorous study, we got the opposite result, “said University of Toronto health policy researcher Peter Jüni.

Other chatter related to Covid-19 comes from scientists at the Russian VECTOR Virology and Biotechnology Research Center who claim to have found a very easy way to kill particles associated with the SARS-CoV-2 corona virus.

Scientists claim that about 90 percent of virus particles die in room temperature water within 24 hours. Meanwhile 99.9 percent died within 72 hours.
