The House of Representatives wants the cabinet to intervene now that tickets for 5 euros are being offered to risk areas. Minister Van Nieuwenhuizen has already written to the Irish price fighter to stop offering stunt prices for ‘orange’ destinations, but so far the company has not cared about it.
The VVD minister will discuss the issue in Europe and see whether the Advertising Code Committee can act. The cabinet states that it has no possibilities to restrict the stunt tickets itself. “But I will continue to look within my possibilities to stop this.”
A large part of the House is also critical about the closure of the test street at Schiphol. Testing has stopped due to capacity issues in other locations. “Thousands of people enter our country undisturbed without being tested,” says PvdA MP Gijs van Dijk with incomprehension. If it were up to D66, the Netherlands will test all travelers from risk areas as soon as enough testing can be done, just like Germany.
