Freiburg (dpa / lsw) – In Baden-Wuerttemberg, car drivers were most stuck in traffic jams across Germany during the summer holiday weekends. The automobile club ADAC announced on Thursday. Accordingly, there were a total of 3900 traffic jams on seven holiday weekends in the southwest, which is five percent more than last year. Especially towards the end of the summer vacation, the number of traffic jams in the country increased. In addition to the vacationers on their way home, many weekend and day-trippers were on the streets, it said.
The last travel weekend from September 11th to 13th was the most congested. Baden-Württemberg was the last federal state that was still in the summer vacation.
However, the total queue lengths were lower than in the previous year. While there were still a total of 10,200 kilometers of traffic jams on holiday weekends in the country in 2019, this year it was only 8,300 kilometers.
