As the winds of change become winds. Top «Quadrifron» performance «Suffering Round» / Article / LSM.lv

On October 1, at the former Faculty of Physics, Mathematics and Optometry of the University of Latvia, Zeļļu Street 25, the theater troupe “Kvadrifrons” will perform its premiere “Suffering Round”, the representatives of “Kvadrifrona” informed.

Starting operations in the premises of the Riga Circus, on October 12, 2018, the theater troupe “Kvadrifrons” was the first to offer the spectators a show-excursion “Wonderful”, which told about the 130-year history of the circus building.

Taking into account that from the autumn of 2020, due to the renovation of the circus building, the home of Kvadrifrona was temporarily transferred to the former Faculty of Physics, Mathematics and Optometry of the University of Latvia at Zeļļu Street 25, the troupe through the prism of the Latvian education system.

As explained by the creators of the show, the term “suffering” refers to a language structure that expresses an action whose performer is unknown or not mentioned in the sentence as the subject of the sentence. The show will look at parents, children and teachers as representatives of the “suffering circle” who face the Latvian education system from the same foundations – the kindergarten – up to the ceiling – the university.

During the evening, the audience will become participants in four meetings, where parents of kindergarten students, teachers of a primary school, members of a high school student council and members of the Constitutional Assembly body of a university will try to change the usual order of things. However, in order to do this, it is necessary to agree on what this procedure is and what changes are needed in it.

The creative group emphasized:

“We want to talk about the difficulties faced by any revolutionary who seeks to question a complex system that has become obsolete over time.

“The suffering round” will be a show of the reasons why the winds of change, which should tear us all apart, become a breath of change that almost no one feels, about the reforms that can be implemented and not implemented, and how calm and instant yesterday becomes tomorrow. “
